How to review imported products before publishing to Shopify
Check product images, variants, prices and missing details in ImportKite, then save a Shopify draft before publishing.
Before an imported product reaches your storefront, review its images, variants, prices and descriptions. ImportKite brings the available source information into one workflow so you can make those decisions before publishing.
This guide covers the checks that matter for Shopify and AliExpress imports, along with common gaps to look for on other supported sources.
Choose the right import route
For a supported Shopify storefront, paste the product URL into ImportKite. For AliExpress, open the product in Chrome and use the ImportKite extension. Import products and source material that you own or have permission to use.
Choose the intended currency on the source page before importing. If a listing changes with your delivery address, confirm the product and price shown for that address. The source guides explain which route to use for each platform.
Review the product details
| Item | What to check before publishing |
|---|---|
| Title and description | Remove supplier-specific wording and confirm that every product claim applies to what you sell. |
| Images | Select useful product photos, check image quality and remove material you cannot publish. |
| Options and variants | Confirm the expected sizes, colors and combinations. A product with one imported variant may need additional options entered manually. |
| Variant images | Make sure each option uses the correct photo, especially when colors look similar. |
| Prices and currency | Check each variant's price and currency, then set your own selling price. |
| Shipping and returns | Add the delivery and return terms that apply to your store. |
For AliExpress, Ships From describes delivery origin and is not imported as a product option. The image-heavy long description farther down the source page is also outside the import's scope. Add any relevant details to your own description after reviewing them.
Complete missing information
The information available to import varies by source and listing. Some Etsy, Temu and Alibaba imports may contain only one variant, even when the source listing offers more choices. Compare the imported options with the listing and complete missing variants before making the product available.
On Amazon, a product that cannot ship to the selected address may not display a main price. If ImportKite asks you to change the delivery address, update it on the source page and try again. Confirm the product's own price before continuing.
AI can help rewrite product copy, but you should review the result. Supply your own shipping, returns and other business details rather than relying on the model to fill in missing facts.
Save a draft before going live
- Finish reviewing the imported fields in ImportKite.
- Push the product to Shopify as a draft.
- Open the draft in Shopify and check its variants, prices, photos and description together.
- If you use an AI product page, review its copy and layout separately. Importing a product and publishing a product page are separate actions.
- Make the product available to shoppers when its details and sales-channel settings are ready.
Start with one product from a new source. Reviewing it first helps you spot fields that need manual attention before repeating the workflow across a larger catalog.
